Make sure you have Quick Nav disabled, by pressing the left and right arrows at the same time. Then try navigating using only the arrow keys in the document area.

I am all of a sudden having an issue where when I open a doc or docx file in Word on my Mac it says showing 1 line of text and I cannot arrow up or down the lines of text. VO is acting as if it is all one single line. I can use VO + either left or right arrow to navigate by word but am completely unable to go by line. This makes it very difficult if not impossible to review or edit files. I am able to open the same files in either text edit or Pages and navigate and edit with no problems.
