Hi Donna, On your iPhone or iPad, go to your Home app. Do all the rooms and devices within those rooms show as responsive? Next, if you have the intercom feature enabled, try asking Siri to intercom to such and such of room where the HomePods are registered. So, you would say “Hey Siri, intercom the Living Room, why are these HomePods being so stupid?” What you’ve said to your iPhone/iPad should be said in the Living Room, or whatever room the HomePods were registered in when implementing the intercom command. If you have multiple rooms with HomePods or HomePod Minis, try doing the intercom command from one room to the other. If all that works fine, try asking Siri to play the album from a different set of HomePods or Minis. I’m trying to determine here if it is the specific HomePod or HomePod set, HomePod mini or HomePod mini set, or something different.
You did say that Siri responded better when you asked her to play the album on your iPhone or iPad I believe? This does make it seem like there’s an issue with the HOmePods, but it’s difficult to narrow down. Do you have your iPhone or iPad nearby when asking Siri to do things on the HomePods or Minis? I ask this because there is sort of a proximity thing with Siri. That is, the closest device will hear the request, but if Siri believes that the request is directed at a different device than the closest one, she will transfer the request over to the appropriate device. So, if your iPad or iPhone is right beside you, and the HomePods are in the same room, and you ask her to play such and such an album, she should recognize that you want that on the HomePods automatically and transfer the request over to the HomePods even though the closest device was your iPhone/iPad. With this in mind, sometimes, the iPhone or iPad’s on-device Siri recognition will do some of the work then move the request to the HomePods and you might get better results. All sorts of straw grasping here. I hope something helps you either make it work better, or it just resolves itself.
