Hi, Actually, “impossible” is a strong, and wrong assumption. While cmd-option-l when at the Desktop is also my preferred mode, you can open this folder from the Dock. When focused on the Downloads folder on your Dock, press VO-shift-m to bring up the Contextual menu for that Dock item, type o pe e n, or maybe even just o p and the Open choice will be presented. Press return and the Downloads folder will open.
