The ability to check Apple’s status in Bluetooth is one of the things I like about the budget friendly beats wired earphones. (the one with the wire connecting two earbuds). I didn’t know this functionality extended to keyboards. Depends on the version of MacOS you’re using. For Catalina and older, go to the Menu Extras, to Bluetooth, then VO-arrow through the choices. There should be a heading named devices. For the Magic Keyboard and other Apple connected devices, there should be sub-menus where there are special options including the battery level. In Big Sur and newer, go to the Menu Extras, Control Centre, then this is where it gets a little tricky. If you simply VO-space on the Bluetooth item, it will toggle it on/off, but if you VO-shift-space on the Bluetooth item, it will pop-up a new screen with devices and related battery levels if available.
