Hi, As far as I’m aware, Brad is spot on with respect to how the mailboxes are ordered. They are arranged in alphabetic order within each folder or parent box. From my prospective, the order of the items within the parent is immaterial. My rationale for this is because when you navigate to the Mailboxes table, simply type the first few letters of the mailbox you wish to bring focus to, and it will be done. For example, type r e c e and focus will be drawn to your Receipts mailbox. There are a few exceptions to this process though. If your parent mailbox is not expanded, you will not be able to bring focus directly to the child mailbox nested within. You may also need to type more letters if you have multiple boxes with similar names.
One other thing is that you can add certain mailboxes to your Favourites bar, then access those within the Favourites bar with a keyboard shortcut. For example, if you have 5 items within the Favourites, cmd-1 will bring focus to the first mailbox, cmd-2 to the second in the list and so on. HTH.
