Have you checked all the settings and made sure your iMessages are still active? I particularly thinking, Go to the iMessage button in the message preferences and make sure the box is checked for iMessages. Also, are you sending to a new recipient or continuing on a conversation? If the first, make sure the person is selected by hitting enter after you type the name.
