Hi, I used to have this happen all the time, especially in Mojave. It has fixed itself for me in Big Sur. If you are actually in Big Sur, then I suggest you restart your Mac. Also, if you have multiple Google services on your Mac linked to this one account, it sometimes gives you grief. One last thing is to check in System Prefs, Security & Privacy, to make sure that it’s not asking for you to allow Google to have access to your Mac for updating purposes.
