Hi Andrew, I am sorry you have had to go through this experience. I have a couple of suggestions when you get your replacement machine. By default, the function keys control Media features. Function Key 11 and Function key 12 control volume. So that’s a quick way to decrease or increase volume. I actually prefer this method over using the VO keys, as I find I get louder volume using the function keys. I recently learned about a Bluetooth/USB keyboard. It’s the Logitech K860. It has command, control and option keys on both sides. I have been using the Crossover move, and that’s gotten annoying in a hurry. The Caps Lock Key can also be used for the VO keys. What separates this keyboard is that to the right of the F12 key is a toggle key. This toggles the function keys between Media and standard function keys. In my opinion, that’s a game changer, as I can have the best of both worlds by using one key as the Function Key toggle Hopefully, you will have a smoother transition when you get your replacement unit. Best of luck. Best Regards,
