I’ve read positive comments about the performance of the M1 machines, which is why I’m considering buying one (or a successor) later this year. Even though Voiceover may announce that the app itself is busy, it may actually be Voiceover which is busy attempting to be able to display information from the app.   Obviously, this is not always the case and it would definitely be nice to be able to tell the difference easily with VO.   I bring this up because occasionally when VO says that an app is busy, it is absolutely possible to interact with the app and its UI using the mouse.   Activity Monitor may be helpful in these cases to tell which process may actually be using more resources.   Hope this might help diagnose the issue.
