Hi Jonathan,

You can have the Touch Bar show different functions depending on which 
application you are using. For example when in the Mail app, actions relating 
to the app will be on the Touch Bar.

set this up by going to the  Keyboard preference pane in system Preferences. 
Next, select the Keyboard tab and go  to the pop-up menu called “Touch Bar 
Shows, .”  choose App Controls from the menu. 

You can also simulate function keys by holding down the FN key and pressing a 
number. For example, to simulate F2, use the FN key and the the number 2.  
Another option is to hold down the FN and VO keys and flick left or right on 
the Touch Bar until you hear the name of the function key you want. Then just 
double tap on it.
