Please read through completely, I do answer your specific question, but have 
details that should make your life easier first.

Still looking at a couple of things. But first,
If you switch into library view then you should have a “Podcasts” table.  To 
switch into library view find the radio buttons just after “forward” button and 
click on library.
Now get to the Podcasts table with VO-COmmand-T. Interact with the table and 
find the Podcast that is a story.
Now, to make your life easier, use VO-shift-M to bring up the contextual menu 
and find the settings. You should be able to change playing order to be oldest 
to newest and also put oldest episode on top if you prefer. 
Now, below the Podcasts table is an episodes table, the easiest way to get to 
that is with VO-J.  That should jump the VoiceOVer cursor to the currently 
selected episode. This list of episodes works very similar to the Mail list of 
messages.
