Hi,

It depends a lot on what you want to do. Notes is mostly just for short notes.
It’s syncs with your i-devices, so is great for keeping track of things like
books people mention, grocery lists, etc.

Pages is a full-blown word-processor much like Word. It will give you all the
capabilities you would find in Word.

I also use Text Edit a lot for files that either only require simple formatting
or are just for my use. It’s very simple to use, and great if you are just
working with a text file that doesn’t have a lot of complicated formatting, use
of tables, etc.

Lastly, there is also Office 365 for Mac. I don’t use it because it requires a
subscription, but if you don’t mind that, I’ve heard good things.

Any of the above choices are fine, depending on what your needs are. If you
need a lot of complex formatting, or if you share Word files regularly with
others, than Pages or Office 365 are your best bet. For simpler tasks, Text
Edit Works great.
HTH,
Donna
