Hello Mark, I have used Lazarillo on IOS for a while and until recently it was my favourite GPS App. However I have now switched to the 24 July 2020 version of the free GPS App Nearby Explorer Online on IOS. This is better than Lazarillo in several ways:
- It does a much better job on approaching intersections. It tells me the distance to the next intersection and whether it is on my left or on my right or ahead. AS I get near the intersection it counts down the remaining distance. - It does a better job of quickly announcing the street I am on after turning a corner. Lazarillo deduces the street name from the street address of the nearest house. My house street address is Kingsway but as I have a corner plot my garden is alongside Lake Road. If I turn into Lake Road from Kingsway Lazarillo will tell me I am still on Kingsway as the nearest house has a street address of Kingsway. It will only tell me I am on Lake Road when I reach the first house with a street address of Lake Road. Nearby Explorer will almost immediately announce Lake Road after I have turned into that street. - Nearby Explorer Online is very customisable about what it automatically announces. - Nearby Explorer has a nice feature to help you traverse open spaces. Have a look at my 5 August post on Nearby Explorer on this forum. Best regards … Paul Hopewell -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
