Hi Tim,
I enabled last date played. Took a look at the TV series I am
currently watching. The episode I watched last night shows "partly
played" in the status column and no date in the "last date played" column.
Last night I experimented. With the Mac's TV app running and ATV in
the Computers app, I "played" some episode in another series that I had
already watched fast forwarding most of the way and then let it finish
playing. All was fine, ATV went to the next unplayed episode and all was
well on the Mac. Until I closed the TV app.
It's a mystery. Mac and ATV when open is fine. But some file on the
Mac is not being written to when the TV app is closed. I have not been
able to find out what and ehere these files are. That may be the key.

Hi,
I tend to do similar. What columns are visible in your table for the
list of TV shows or movies? If you press cmd-j, you can have it also
show the last date played. See if you can learn more with that field
visible.

I watch my purchased movies and TV shows on the Apple TV 4k. Since
Catalina, when I access the media in the Computers app, most of the
time, the play counts do not increment. While the TV app on the Mac is
open, media I watch on the ATV will change the play count. Likewise, any
titles I change on the Mac will adjust on the ATV, So both devices are
communicating.
However, after I close the TV app on the Mac, everything goes back to
previous status. On the Mac, some of the episodes for example will show
a status of 'partly played'. I have not figured out the conditions when
things do change properly. Any ideas?
