I have an iPhone XS. It took me a day or two to grow used to Face ID.
The new gestures used in place of the Home button were straightforward.
Not surprisingly, performance was vastly better than that of my iPhone
5S, which the 10S replaced.

Interesting, do you currently own the iPhone X, and if so, could you
please give me some pointers on getting started with it?

I was just reading a CNet article about charging today. The general
recommendation was to ry and keep your battery between 30-80% charged
for maximum battery life. It also mentioned that the quick chargers
are designed to push a lot of charge initially and then reduce the
charging as the battery gets closer to full. I think they were saying
when you don't need the full life of the battery, a 30 minute charge
with a quick charger should give you 50% charge.

I’m looking at possibly upgrading from my iPhone 7+ that I’ve had
about 3 years, to the iPhone XR, which, to my understanding, has
better battery life/camera resolution than the new iPhone SE, which
I originally was thinking about getting. For those who have this
model, in your opinion, is it better to get a wireless charger for
this device, or just have a back up batter charger/juice pack case
for it instead?
I honestly know nothing about charging a device wirelessly, and it
almost sounds like it would actually degrade your battery faster,
but would love to hear everyone else’s thoughts.
