I agree. I find it most distracting in the iPad app for Zoom. I
haven’t found the option on the Mac version yet, but in the iPad
version, you can mute the chat announcements. If you wish, and have
time, we can set up a Zoom meeting and practice on some of the
features so that we can pretend we’re smarter during the meetings we
host or participate in.
Lots of this is pretty easy for the sighted user, but takes a bit
more work for us.

send a chat to the group. When I typed my question in the chat
edit field, I thought I’d press enter and the message would send.
So when I did go back in to the edit field with vo left arrow,
the chat was still there and it didn’t send to the group. So if
someone could write me the key strokes to send chat using voice
over, I’d be grateful. At least I can mute and unmute myself in
a meeting which is a marked improvement.
