Recently I replaced a failed hard drive with a ssd. A ssd can have max storage performance and usable life enhanced by setting trim. -- Starting with os10.10.4 a terminal utility called trimforce is included to do the job for a third party ssd such as mine. An original mac ssd already has trim set. A third party sssd comes with it disabled. Not all ssd models can set trim. A google by model designation should provide the info for any ssd one might have or are thinking about getting. In terminal do trimforce help for info about how to enable trim, it's very easy to use. I suggest you consult apple disability if you have any doubts or questions or need help with the utility. XR -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
