Hi, When you say "data", do you mean simply data such as documents and such that might be stored on your Desktop or in your Documents folder? Or, do you mean third party applications and such as well? If the former, then those are easy to just put back on from either syncing your Desktop and Documents folder to iCloud or by storing them on external media. If the latter, then you may not be able to do a true clean install if you're worried about losing settings and such for various installed apps.
