Hi Petrus, and others, I was skeptical when it first came out. I used Bemyeyes and bespectacle, I think it was called that. And, those apps were free. But, I got a free offer to try 30 minutes and I was hooked. I kept it like a emergency helper. But, now with the free 5 minute calls I rarely use the 30 minutes a month. And, When I’m stuck needing a pair of eyes it is great to have a trained person with skills and tools available to help.
I’d recommend to try it out and keep the app on the phone. If you are lucky enough to be in a country where it works it could help out in a pinch. Example, I was building a garden shed and my talking tape measure fell out of my pocket. I needed it to keep working. I used Aira and in a moment I had it back. It had bounced under the leaves but the agent still spotted it. Another time I got disoriented in my yard. I called and they got me turned back around so I could find my way back. They now help more with crossing streets. In the beginning they didn’t do that. And in the US more and more locations have free service, air ports, busses, sub ways, college campuses, drug stores, department stores and so on. I once used free access at a drug store to get a tour. I had no idea they had such a variety of things there! They can now even share your Mac computer screen and fill in captures. I had difficulty getting text to enter in a form field last week and they just put the focus in the spot and then it worked. So, even if you just use the free 5 minute calls now and then it is nice to have in your tool box. In other countries bemyeyes can do some of the functionality. But, Aira has agents waiting. They are trained and have a dashboard ready to use to assist. It has things like maps of the airports you might be at. The ability to take a picture and magnify it to help you know what is around you. They can even google things or help on a shopping quest. Some of the agents are not only well trained but have background in Orientation and mobility and other useful areas.
