Thanks Tim and ET. The mouse commands were the ones I was/am using. (Always good to be sure I remembered them correctly Thank You!). The problem seems to be intermittent so I must be doing something wrong.
Tim, I've mainly tried to drag and dropfrom documents to the desk top, and vise versa. I have more than seven hundred items to move (the Mac was not well set up) so I really want to get this working smoothly. Incidentally any suggestions on how to simplify and make the moving of all these files and folders as quick and easy as possible would be much appreciated.
