Hmm! Well I will try to figure things out this weekend. On the
iPhone I got to where if I open a file in either Pages or Writer it
would open in iCloud Drive.

Hi ET,
I haven't had time to mess with this for a while, but no, I did not have that
problem. I was able to open a file that had been edited in Windows.
Cheers,

Donna,
I was testing different things and was not looking in the app specific
folder. But now a question. If say, on Windows, I edit an rtf file then try to
view it on the iPhone, I get an error message saying it failed to import, file
must be in plain text. This happened in both Voice Dream Writer and Pages.
Have you seen this too?

Hmm, not sure. Maybe try deleting Text Editor? You can always reinstall it.

Donna,
I was just working with Voice Dream Writer and Text Editor and find the
former easier to use. Both apps are set up in iCloud Drive. If I open a
document in iCloud Drive, it opens in Text Editor. How do I change that? Thanks.
I am disappointed that Comic Sans MS is not in the list of fonts. Could be
worse, right?

I was traveling over the holidays, so I haven't done much with it, but yes.
Also, VoiceDream works really well, too.

Yes the more I do this the better. Are you still happy with that 99 cent

It gets easier once you get files into recents. Then you only see the files
you've worked with within the app.

Donna,
Ok I will have another go at this. Syncing is on but will verify that again.
I find the Files app a bit overdone (too many things on the screen) but I will
work with it. Thanks.

Hi ET,
When you open text editor, it defaults to showing a list of recently opened
files. But at the bottom of the screen, there are two buttons, recents, which
is selected, and Browse. If you tap browse, you can browse and open files in
iCloud drive.
In Voice Dream Writer, the easiest way is by opening the File Manager. All your
recently opened files will show up there. (Note that you will want to enable
iCloud syncing.) Alternatively, you can select Add Document, which is at the
top left of the screen, right next to the File Manager button.. Then select
Import from External Location. Then you'll have a choice between Recents, and
Browse. If you Select Browse, and iCloud is enabled, that will be one of your
options.
HTH,

Hi Donna,
We had discussed this regarding rtf editors and iCloud Drive. I am finally
getting around to working on this.
On the iPad I can find any file using the Files app. But how then would I
edit a file using say, TextEditor or Voice Dream Writer? On the other hand, if
I open either app, I cannot find the file in its folder on iCloud Drive.
I've been placing certain documents on iCloud Drive for easy access from any
device such as a list of shortcuts for Mac or iOS. Reading them is fine. But if
I need to do any editing, that is where I am lost. If I can figure out iCloud
Drive, I am home free. Thanks.
