Hello, I installed using a bootable USB drive. I think I may know what is going on. When I did the erase part there were two options. One was erase volume and the second was erase volume groups. I think when I did the erase, I just erased my files and apps and not any of the user data. I did need to put the finder windows in list view to get them back to working as they were before.
