Pete,
From some notes I have. You are almost there.
When you have the date and time of the backup you wish to remove,
and stop interacting with the slider. Use Window Chooser to get back to
Finder once again. If you wish to remove the entire backup for that
timeline...
Go to Sidebar, under Devices and choose your computer.
Interact with the Scroll area and select your HD.
Go to the Toolbar, select Actions menu and choose Delete this
Backup. Now press Escape to dismiss TM.
From E.T.'s Keyboard...

Hi and Happy New Year to all,
I’m sure others have had this happen, so I hope I can get some help with this: My
Time Machine disk is full, and I want to delete some older backups. I’ve read
instructions from several different sources, but things are not making sense. I can
go to Menu Extras > Time Machine > Enter Time machine, and I do hear the noises
that tells me Time Machine is loaded. I am notified that I’m in a new finder window,
and have also discovered that the only way I can get to the controls where I can
scroll through backup dates is using the window chooser menu. I can manipulate the
slider to get to a particular date, but where I’m having problems is that I can’t get
to what they call the Gear icon to make the choice to delete the backup. I also know
there’s a way to delete all backups of a particular file or folder, but I can’t
figure out how to do that either. I guess it’s kind of a tricky process with
Voiceover, so I’d be interested in learning how to accomplish this if anyone else has
been successful.
Thank you so much,
Pete De Vasto
