Really there isn't a lot to choose from these days with the mac computers, My suggestion would be At least 16GB ram, And a minimum 512GB SSD The later the mac book be it an air or a pro the better as you will get a longer life from it than an earlier device. I did look at a 2017 Mac book air which had 8GB ram and 512GB SSD and an i7 2.2GHz processor which would be a great little machine but wont take on all of the newer developments in mac os Catalina But the only thing I can suggest is avoid any mac book pro with the touch bar, and try to stick to a machine later than 2017 if possible. Oh and remember that all the new mac book models have USB-C both for power and external device connection. And don't look at the Mac Book 12 inch devices as they are to under powered.
