Hi Petrus, Yeah I’m not sure I like it but then I don’t get a lot of time to use it.
I’m somewhat changing my view on the butterfly keyboard and it’s only been a week of using it. Throwing in the touch bar might be a bit much but then I work between both mac os and windows and therefore the touch bar wont work with the windows environment. I read quite a view bad reviews in the blind community on how bad the Touch Bar is I was feeling like I was the odd one out for liking it. I know I’ve heard a few people say that you can’t use windows on the Mac if one has the Touch Bar and I don’t know if this is correct or not, but I never wanted to use windows on it anyway. I also find that I can turn VO on and off just with the triple click without the cmd button On 16 Jun 2019, at 16:14, 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries <macvisionaries@googlegroups.com<mailto:macvisionaries@googlegroups.com>> wrote: Hi, That was an excellent synopsis Julie. The only thing that I'd add is that many of the functions you're used to using with VO, such as VO-f8, can easily be accessed without using the TouchBar itself. You can add FN to your key combination and just press the #8. So, for VO-f8, press VO-FN-8 for the same command. This works well for Application and Window Chooser actions. Also, for turning on/off VO, you can just press the cmd key, then the power/finger-print button three times. Later... At the write hand end you get a kind of stable set of buttons which link to the control panel so things like volume etc - just tap and swipe as you would on the IPAD and they open etc At the left hand end the buttons change depending n the function and application you are in - touch anything and it announces what it is and then you can double tap to active or swipe up and down to get other options etc - I am sorry I am sure Tim or someone would explain this better not being a trainer myself never sure if I use the write phrases. To get the function keys you simply use the FN key first and then the function keys appear on the Touch Bar and you can tap them etc. My honest advice though is just explore and you will quickly be using it effectively because you can run your finger along to find out what is their without activating anything it is easy to explore etc. I find it really helpful for doing formatting etc in pages because you get the most useful functions on the Touch Bar so you can get to them quickly etc. Hope this helps On 16 Jun 2019, at 10:04, 'Andrew Lamanche' via MacVisionaries <macvisionaries@googlegroups.com<mailto:macvisionaries@googlegroups.com>> wrote: Hi, The new macs, I understand, no longer have a row of function keys at the top. Is there an Apple resource that would teach how to use the touch bar to a newbee new mac user? :) Andrew -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
