Hi,

Simon's method is quick and dirty. I forgot to mention the part about
connecting to WiFi. I'm used to doing this with an ethernet connection on
those older iMacs, so forgot to mention that part. Ethernet connections are
better for this, but if you were connected to WiFi before you started this
process, you should be OK, as it should remain connected to that network.

Hi,

Tim might think differently to me on this,

2 ways I would suggest are either you have a USB flash drive setup to be a
bootable installer with High sierra on it.
Not that complicated so log as you have an 8gb usb flash drive and obviously
the actual install media.

Or possibly the simpler one is turn the machine off,

Hold down the command and R keys then while holding them down power on the
machine and hold those keys for approx. 30 seconds or a little longer with the
2009 machine. Then let thos keys go and give the machine time to start up to
the mac os utilities

Note I should have said this will need a wi fi connection to get internet
access.

Then once up and running turn voiceover on and use disk utility to eraise the
drive
And then the install mac os option to install which is from the net and will be
possibly slow depending on what type of connection you have.

Quick and simple I know but there is slightly more but it’s more time related
than anything else.

Hi,

Do you already have the High Sierra installer? Or, does it already have High
Sierra on it? I ask this because it is slightly challenging to download the
High Sierra Installer app now that Mojave is the most current MacOS. It is
doable, but not as easy as just going to the App Store. Beyond all this, the
process is difficult to explain without knowing if you're hoping to do an
upgrade to your existing MacOS, or a complete clean install of High Sierra.
