Hi Carolyn,

The mouse click key is vo shift space.

So, here is a procedure for doing this same job without the track pad.

Interact with the message headers vo shift down arrow.
VO right until you get to the address in the to field.
Press vo command f5 to root the mouse.
Press VO shift space and you will hear the address along with the word 
highlighted.
Now Press VO shift M to bring up the context menu.

No need to appologise for being a beginner.  We were all there ourselves at one 
time or another.
