Hi.
I have installed the script, and I got it to work, so now I can move
files.
thank you for helping.
Best regards Annie.

Hi Annie,
The inability to "cut" files like in Windows is unavailable in Mac
OS X.
This is a safety precaution on Apple's part. However, I think you are
experiencing a bug that is current in Mac OS X 10.6.2 where due to
some
corruption in some system files, Finer will not allow you to copy
entire
folders.
There are several work-arounds though. the second one involves the
command
line. I don't know how comfortable you are with it, but I will put
it here
in case you want to try ti.
1. There is a script though, but i cannot make it work correctly.
You can
download it from:
http://icanworkthisthing.com/scripts/index.shtml
2. You can open the Terminal application from within Spotlight by
typing
"Terminal" without the quotes and use the "move" command as follows:
Before you type the following commands, you might want to place the
folders
you want to copy on to the Desktop.
1. Type "cd" (without the quotes) followed by where you want to end
up. "cd"
stands for change directory so if you type: cd Desktop (with a
capital D on
Desktop), you'll end up on the Desktop. This is because by default,
you
always start off in your Home Folder whenever you open Terminal.
2. Once you're on the Desktop, you can then move your folders to your
external HD. If your folder names have spaces in them, place quotes
around
the folder name. You'll need to do the same with the HD if it has
spaces in
it's name. You can also move several folders at once by placing a
comma
between each folder. Type the following:
mv folder1, folder2 /Volumes/name of your hd
That should do the trick. There is also one more solution. if I can
find it
again I'll post it here.

Hi all.
Is it possible to move files on a mac to a new folder or to an
external harddisk. It is a bit annoying to copy and then delete,
because I often move some files and not all files in a folder.
Best regards Annie.
