Did you have a chance to look at the prototype multi-line braille and graphics display exhibited at CSUN by the Dot company from South Korea? I did, and it was impressive even as a prototype. There were some software issues, but the hardware was undoubtedly working - and that's where the engineering challenges lie.
Another impressive device at CSUN was the Canute Braille Reader - not really intended as a display for interacting with a computer, due to its slow, line by line refresh rate. Rather, it's intended for reading documents (i.e., BRF files) - 9 lines of 40 cells each. The Graphiti graphics display under development by Orbit Research and American Printing House for the Blind was, I think, also exhibited this year, although I didn't look at it while at CSUN - I've had my opportunities elsewhere. For anyone who works with tactile graphics, this device is impressive and very likely to be a major advance. There may have been other interesting devices that I missed. On 3/15/19, 01:18, "M. Among other goals, I was interested in test driving a few Braille displays for use with my iOS devices. Imagine my surprise when I arrived at the A.P.H. booth and discovered that they had no Orbit Reader 20s on hand for visitors to explore. While I was there, 2 other people walked up and asked about the Orbit Reader 20 and were equally disappointed at the lack of a demo model. I did, however, get a look at an entire host of other BRaile displays, from other companies, including the latest version of the Focus 40. Now, that, is a beautiful device. Regardless, I was sorely disappointed at not having an opportunity to test drive the Orbit Reader 20 Braille display.
