Yep, totally understand that feeling :) The first time I knew space was something I wanted to experience is when I was in Houston Texas and saw one of the booster rockets. And my parents purchased a miniature of it. I still remember how much it had inspired me.
Later in life, when I was a 3D professional, I modelled a spaceship, making it modular so that it would be easy to transport out of gravity on earth, and piece together into the final thing. I was on an IRC channel, and a NASA engineer had told me how smart the concept was when I showed him the render.
