I wasn't sure as I haven't installed to this macbook air in a while.

 I've just installed 1809 to my 13" MBP from 2015 and that worked great with 
headphones,
 And no need to use usb flash drive for windows installer files.

Hopefully I'll get this reimage done this weekend just for shits and giggles

Headphones connected directly to the Mac should work just fine. I did this on a 
MBP mid 2014 and it worked just fine. You will also need a usb drive as well 
for these older machines.
After the boot camp part of the install switches over to the windows installer, 
and after about half a minute or so, you can activate narrator and away you go.
