You can use your own ringtones for your IPhone with out jail breaking it. I recommend you use gold wave or what ever on the Mac side of things to get the ring tone like you want it and then use a program like iringer to convert it to the format you need to put it on your IPhone. This converter will convert it and add it to iTunes in the correct place for you. Then all you need to do is hook your IPhone to iTunes check the ringtones you want on your phone and sync it. If need the site to iringer I will be glad to give it to you. Also there is a list dedicated to the IPhone and will be glad to give that to you also.
