That one is strange, our office supplies the USB equivalent of that, I believe 
it is a 560. I have never had any problem. Both Skype and Cisco soft phone will 
use either default microphone or the USB Plantronics. I wonder, there are three 
buttons on my plantronics and one of them is mute, any chance there is a 
microphone mute functionality that you are hitting against?
