Customization to consider when employing multiple e-mail accounts. I suggest that you open the Preferences from your e-mail application and take note of the following items in the “Tool Bar.”
ACCOUNTS Naturally, this particular tab will let you make some custom settings per e-mail account. At the beginning of this dialog is a table listing every e-mail account you currently have established on your Mac (whether the account is active or not). Note that a “DELETE” button is available at the end of the dialog; if you activate the account will be completely erased. You can elect to have the specific account you are currently focussed on set to “Active” or “Inactive” - naturally setting an account to “Inactive” will render that account inaccessible although it will remain on your platform as a potentially usable account. There are subtle adjustments you can make to the specific account, but I tend to leave all accounts “Common” in this respect. COMPOSING In this tab you will be able to set a number of “Composition” items, but these will apply to all accounts the same. I only mention this tab because one of the items is the default “Send New Messages From” that will apply in all accounts. I have mine set to “wfgal...@icloud.com <mailto:wfgal...@icloud.com>” and because of this I have to be careful when trying to send an e-mail to a list subscribed under my gmail account. This can be overridden when actually composing and sending a message to a subscription list. And there is an option to use the “Best Choice” which I have never personally tried. SIGNATURES This the tab that I enjoy the most in the native e-mail client. This tab allows you to completely customize any signatures blocks you may want appended to your messages. It allows you to set up a single signature block for one account while having a suite of signature blocks for a different account. And, if you create multiple signature blocks for an account you can opt to have this randomly selected so each message you send from that account will have varying signatures. Ultimately, although Google offers a “GMail” app to interact with that account I prefer to use the native e-mail client - just my personal preference! ************ - Bill from Ino, Wisconsin - “Last week I was diagnosed with Insomnia, now I’m just so tired of it.” - Contributor Unknown -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
