Hello Lori, Is your drive pluged up to a wall and uses the USB port for your computer?
I used to have a tosheba 1 TB harddrive that did this as well, but it was normal. I hope this helps. I would probably contact the manufacturer of your device to play it safe. Hope this helps. -----Original Message----- From: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com <macvisionaries@googlegroups.com> On Behalf Of Lorie McCloud Sent: Saturday, December 1, 2018 04:32 PM To: 'Dan Eickmeier' via MacVisionaries <macvisionaries@googlegroups.com> Subject: my external hard drive my 2 tb external hard drive makes some unsettling noises when it's running. at first I thought it was my computer because my Dell used to sound like that when it was booting up or otherwise working hard but I haven't noticed my Mac doing anything like that. it makes these sounds for awhile after it spins up and I wouldn't find that too unusual but now it just keeps on sounding like that for as long as it's running. is it something I should be concerned about? it's my only external hard drive and I'd really like to avoid its crashing at least until I can replace it. thanks.
