I am a total novice in relation to spreadsheets as a whole, but I am trying to teach myself how to use Numbers.
I have worked out how to add all the values in a column, but I need to work out how to add selected rows in one column. I realise I need to put a formula in the cell in which I wish the result to appear, but I can’t seem to get it to work. I’m clearly doing something stupid. If, for example, I want to add the numbers in rows A1 to A4 and have the result appear in B5, exactly how do I do that? I had a stab at SUM A1:A4, but nothing happened when I typed that into B5. Clearly I am missing out a step, or I have got the formula wrong, or both. Any ideas?
