Hello,
I often go for circular walks around my town and currently use an obsolete
version of the tom tom Western Europe app on my iPhone 5S to tell me where I am
if lost. This will say for example “I am on Kingsway between Merdon Avenue 150
yards and Brownhill Road 50 yards", which is great for navigation. the app also
gives turn by turn directions to a chosen location and has the usual lists of
nearby points of interest.
Apart from being obsolete the Tom Tom app stores the maps for all of Western
Europe on my phone using about 3 GB of space resulting in a very long app start
up time when there is little free storage.
Can anyone recommend a basic IOS navigation app which will tell me on request
which street I am on and how far to the nearest cross street? I looked at Apple
Maps which told me which street I was on and which house number I was near but
not the name and distance of the nearest cross street. In the UK house
numbering schemes are not as logical as elsewhere and one cannot deduce much
from a house number!
Many thanks.
