Hi Mike,

I think this simply is to avoid that no checkboxes are checked at all. I 
suppose you get the settings saved if you select any of the checkboxes in your 
custom setup before pressing OK. 

If your goal is to not navigate images, I will suggest you to check out the 
setting under the navigation category in VO Utility. There is a pop-up menu 
there to only navigate images with descriptions, all images or none .
