Your call, and there's no easy answer. Personally, I'm waiting. I have a Series 2, which is the same as yours but with GPS and better waterproofing. I'm sitting out the Series 3 and hoping that a new one comes along this fall. If it does and it's worth it, I'll upgrade then, because my 2 works well enough for me. If the 4 comes along and isn't worth it, I'll get a 3 for a cheaper price than I'd pay now. If no 4 materializes, I'll be sad, but my 2 will continue to work. If watchOS 5 makes my current unit unusable, which I doubt, I'll look at upgrading even if the next Apple Watch isn't out this fall. Of course, you could upgrade now if you have the spare funds. You'll get a better experience in the months left before the fall, and if you want to upgrade to the 4, you'll get a much better resale price for a 3 than a 1. You'll also get a better idea of the improvement you can expect in a new Apple Watch, which can inform your choice of whether, with its power, you should consider a cellular model.
