Honestly, the iPad may be superfluous if you already have a latest-generation iPhone and keyboard. I enjoy split-screening apps on iPad, and using it when I want to save my phone's battery, but there isn't much it can do that iPhone can't. If you're already used to having an iPad, then yes, upgrading to a Pro will give you a lot more speed and sound. But you might consider trying to use your phone as your primary for a while, to see how things go.
