Actually, if voiceover is on when you are setting up Face ID, the necessity to glance thing is turned off by default. You can turn it on, and some blind people can apparently use it. But it’s off by default. That is a little bit of a security risk, because if you’re somewhere, and someone snatches your phone, they can open it up by pointing at your face. Mary
