I've seen that too and read or heard something to the effect that this "location" is the server being used for the task you are running. Makes sense somewhat but not practical sense.

What's funny for us in NZ though is that the alert states that my device was 
used in a location approx. 400KM northwest in the middle of our mountain range,
Near Mt Cook which is our highest peak, in a place called wellington which is 
our capital and is north of me by approx. 1000 Km  so neither are close  each
