Sounds like you'll feel right at home with a larger service provider :) Can't speak to Windstream but I've had Cox for years and they have generally been solid. I bought my own cablemodem so I didn't have to pay the rent for that and plugged that into an Apple AirPort. Had hiccups whenever the power burped but I added a UPS and now things are pretty flawless. I can't recall the last time I had an outage.

Windstream is a smaller company, out of Rhode Island oddly enough I think.  Cox 
is a pretty major cable provider. So you’ll probably get fewer services but 
more personal attention at wind stream and the big company blues but lots more 
options with Cox.  I would put a Cox cable in the category with a Comcast.
