Brian, As John mentioned, if you cmd-tab back to the Finder it should still have focus on Safari. Don't move VO or what you are saying will continue to happen. Once in the Finder, just press VO-shift-m and the Contextual menu should come up with the Remove from Sidebar option. If for some reason, it still tries to jump you away, before pressing cmd-tab, maybe turn off Cursor Tracking with VO-shift-f3. If you do invoke this command, remember to turn Cursor Tracking back on with the same toggle command, otherwise, you'll get quite frustrated.
