Well, google looked like it might find something, but NO Microsoft still talks a better game then they provide.
1. Background cell information is always spoken and very annoying. Reading the Microsoft make your Excel accessible on the Macintosh pages suggested creating tables and then using headers in them. This was a total exercise in futility. Also, the VoiceOver speak column header speak row header and speak selection commands do not work! Very frustrating.
