The desktop must be bloody under powered if they can’t support jaws, Sounds like they are a form of dumb terminal. Mind you if they use citrix like we do then I can see why

That said, I am glad they are giving me the local access laptop. The desktop computers are rather underpowered. They merely connect to the company's intranet through the internet, using secure servers. They are very slow to load the worker's desktop when one logs in. They have very little internal memory or storage, which is why the laptop is provided (the office desktop cannot support Jaws. Especially when you can deploy it so it only runs for the specific users required. All that is I think is an IT department to lazy to do their jobs. People bitch about jaws or voice over and security in the mean time demanding that their favorite messenger or media player is installed that really does have security concerns. (I’m sorry we can’t install JFW for you oh and get ready we’re pushing out a new Java virtual machine). Right! Not a bad work around though. The only problem is having to run windows, that would be a deal breaker for me. On Apr 20, 2017, at 3:01 AM, David Chittenden <dchitten...@gmail.com<mailto:dchitten...@gmail.com>> wrote: Thanks all. It turns out, the company has two other blind employees. They will not place JFW on the Citrix do to security concerns. However, the fix is to provide the blind employee with a laptop which is configured for local access. I then carry the laptop with me for work. Now, back to Windows 7 after 6 years of Mac and iOS. When JAWS or WindowEyes is run on both system and the licensing is correctly recognized, then the remote system will just send the text to be read or braille to your local machine and not the complete sound f of the synthesized speech.
