I mention this here because the google home is product agnostic and works with lots of home equipment as well as configures beautifully and works well with the iPhone. You have two parts, a google home app and the google home itself. It’s a digital assistant that’s voice based. Now, multiple voices are supported. Found this article in my inbox today. Google home now recognizes different users by their voice. This means in a house hold for example each individual can use the community google home devices, say in your kitchen or TV room and google home identifies the user by their voice. I could speak to google home and it will bind to and know it’s Scott so I’ll have access to my calendars and such. If my assistant walks in and says hey google or ok google it identifies him as his own user and not Scott. This is huge! This really makes the device more than just a single user device in the home. This allows the google home to be a real part of the family and their interaction with the home devices. What’s more exciting to me is how this works. Your voice is continuously compared and processed by a neural network in the cloud so characteristics in your voice are tracked over time and the device learns your voice as it goes and as your voice changes over a long duration. It’s real world applied artificial intelligence at it’s best.
