Yes cisco any connect is a client that needs to communicate with a vpn service at your business or a provider of the vpn service.
We use the same product at work The cisco any connect is not a vpn service it is just a client for connecting or enabling your vpn connection. Nancy, My office uses a Cisco VPN product with DUO mobile. The client on the Macintosh side is called Cisco Anytime connect. This one is fully accessible and has two factor authentication enabled. When I launch the VPN client, I put in my password in the first password field and the word "push" into the second password field. A second later I get a notification on my iPhone. I open the DUO app and click on the word approve and then the dialog disappears from my computer. At this point all my network traffic gets re-routed as though I was directly connected in my office. I have found this very straight forward. My company has about 1000 employees and we maintain two connection points into the network. Hope this helps. DUO also has the ability of working with pin numbers sent via text message, but I have found for me that the pin often times out before I can find it and type it into the box.
