hmmm. it sounds to me like you need to start a review campaign on the appstore review link. get all your friends and their friends, etc to write a review pointing out these difficulties. If you start getting enough folks to do this and then hound them once a week with all the reviews, they just might start to listen. Dealing with all those reviews (and having them publicly visible will start to impact their bottom line.
now, I know this may seem like a lot of work, but it can work. These developers need to know that we, as a community, can exercise a lot of buying power (to the tune of slightly more than $5 billion last year alone). Thats the buying power of the blind, their families, friends and associates. When you add it up, it becomes nontrivial in a very big hurry. When education fails to garner their attention (and good will), then brute force attacks on their ability to earn money will certainly get their attention.
