Hi Ramy,

Go to system preferences, choose keyboard button, and from the tabs presented
to you select "shortcuts" tab. Then You will find two tables. The first table
is shortcuts category table. Interact with it and locate "input sources".
Stop interacting with the table and move to the shortcuts keys table
immediately to the right. Interact with it and you will see that there are two
columns in the table. The left hand side column contains checkboxes which
enable or disable a particular shortcut key combination that's already there.
You will find the pre-assigned shortcut key combinations in the right hand side
column. There are two rows here: select the previous input source, and
underneath, select the next input source. The select next input source will
take you through all the possible keyboard layouts you have enabled on your
mac. In my case, as I press the shortcut keys for select next input source,
each time I press it, Voiceover will announce the next keyboard layout, in my
case I can go through all 4 keyboard layouts I have enabled. The select
previous input source shortcut is very helpful because if you work with two
languages in one document, you can use this shortcut to change between the two
keyboard layouts you are currently using.

Ramy, I have to warn you though at this point that the pre-assigned shortcut
key combination for select next input source and select previous input source
clash with the spotlight shortcut key combinations. That's why when you choose
input source in the first table in system preferences and then move to the
table of the shortcut keys in the second table, the checkbox for these
shortcuts is off. You can either choose to change the shortcut for the
spotlight first and keep the default for keyboard layout selection, or reassign
the shortcut keys for the latter. This is perfectly possible.

Ok, to change the shortcut key combination, find the second table which lists
the pre-assigned shortcut keys. As I've said, the left hand side column
contains the checkboxes to enable or disable the combination. The right hand
side column will tell you the keys already there. Interact with the cell in
this column and vo+right arrow once to hear the shortcut keys and also for
Voiceover to announce that it is selected. Only then can you put in your own
key combination here. Literally, press the keys you want to use for your
shortcut. Move away from the field and back to it to ensure that you have got
the keys you want. You should now have your new shortcut. If you mess things
up, don't panic,: In the window with the shortcuts tab selected, you will find
the button to reset everything to defaults, and you can start again.

Make sure that the checkbox enabling the shortcut is on.

Hope this helps

Andrew
